County resident, group honored with awards from The Arc Maryland

One individual and one group associated with The Arc Carroll County have received awards from The Arc Maryland. Mary Pat Dye, program specialist for post secondary programs for Carroll County Public Schools, received the Excellence in Education/Transitions Award and the Buc’s Pleasure Club received the Chapter Volunteer of the Year Award.

For 20 years, Dye has been a leader in constructing model programs to help students with intellectual and developmental disabilities as well as mental health needs transition successfully from the school system to work in the community.

The Buc’s Pleasure Club has supported The Arc’s annual golf tournament since its inception 23 years ago by providing on-course beverages and golf teams. The club has also been involved in The Arc’s annual 25-Week Club raffle since its inception more than 20 years ago by providing and operating wheels of chance at the event. Each June The Buc’s sponsor picnic for people supported by The Arc and Arc staff and provide all of the food and entertainment at their facility in Westminster. The club and its individual members also support The Arc through membership and the annual appeal.

The awards were presented at The Arc Maryland State Convention and Annual Meeting May 18 at the Westin Annapolis Hotel in Annapolis.
