Ferguson named as director emeritus at The Arc

The Arc Carroll County has named Tom Ferguson of Westminster its first director emeritus.

He has been involved with The Arc in many ways since the mid-1980s when he served as the chair for the capital campaign to raise funds to build The Arc's current facility on Kriders Church Road in Westminster.

In 2011, he created and chaired, and continues to chair, the planning committee for The Capitol Steps, which has become The Arc's signature event. This event has raised more than $250,000 for the organization over the past decade. He is also one of the organizations top financial supporters.

He has served four three year terms on the board of directors with two terms as treasurer and chair of the finance committee. His current term comes to a close at the end of June but as an Emeritus he may continue to attend as a non-voting member and will be looked upon for advice, insight and guidance on special projects and initiatives.

The award was presented at The Arc's Annual Dinner and Community Awards at Martin's Westminster on May 8.
