Arc accepting nominations for Community Awards
The Arc Carroll County is accepting nominations for the organization's 2012 Community Awards. Each year The Arc recognizes individuals and organizations in Carroll County who have made a difference in the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The awards will be presented at the Annual Dinner and Community Awards to be held on May 8 at Martin's Westminster.
The awards include:
WAMM Special Appreciation Award: Presented to individuals or groups who have provided noteworthy efforts to The Arc Carroll County and/or people with developmental disabilities and whose ongoing efforts and actions bring to life the belief that The Arc is a place "Where Ability Matters Most."
Spirit of Independence Award: Presented to an individual supported by The Arc Carroll County who has improved his/her skills or has demonstrated determination in achieving his/her goals.
Employer of the Year: Presented to a company that employs people with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
Special Education Professional of the Year: Presented to an education professional who has demonstrated excellence in providing quality educational opportunities and/or advocacy for students with developmental disabilities in Carroll County.
Volunteer of the Year: Presented to an individual or group who demonstrate dedication to people with developmental disabilities through volunteer service to The Arc Carroll County and/or Arc-supported individuals.
Public Service Award: Presented to an individual or group with a high public profile who advance the public's understanding of people with developmental disabilities or who advocate for change that improves services or the overall quality of life for people with disabilities.
